I Am the Song
I am the song that sings the bird.
I am the leaf that grows the land.
I am the tide that moves the moon.
I am the stream that halts the sand.
I am the cloud that drives the storm.
I am the earth that lights the sun.
I am the fire that strikes the stone.
I am the clay that shapes the hand.
I am the word that speaks the man.
GOOD
hi, I am performing this poem and using it for my guildhall drama exam lyric poem. It a great piece and i have lived with it for about 7 years now.
It is bardic and ‘ magical’ My only problem being I had to remind myself to tell it as an un folding mystery as i have got so used to seeing things this way round now I forget it is a twist to traditional vision!
Thanks for posting.

This is by far my favorite poem ever. Ever since I saw it I loved it.
I should notify you about it.
I discovered this poem in Charles Causley’s ‘Collected Poems for Children’, and immediately loved it but was also intrigued by it. Can anyone explain to me why it is written in this ‘back-to front’ way? Is there some special significance or meaning for this, that I have completely missed?!
